preview of design and website are different

  • Hey so for some reason a bunch of things on my wordpress site just all of a sudden changed. One change in particular was the layout. I kind of fixed it but now In my mystique settings-> design, i change it to layout with 1 sidebar to the right and fixed. In the design preview it looks perfect but when i save the main page info – i.e the posts are gone and all is left is the sidebar widgets.

    When i change it to no sidebars, the blog shows perfectly.

    Does anyone have an idea why this would be happening.

  • Did you recently install any new plugins before the design got messed up? It’s possible that a new plugin installation could have caused an error with the theme that wasn’t there before.

    It is also possible that somehow the theme files could have been edited or corrupted through various different methods. You may try uploading the theme you are currently using again in order to make sure that they aren’t corrupted.

    Anymore details about any slight change you may have possibly made before the theme ended up not working could give us some better insight as to what may have happened.

    well i know that my partner said she installed the new wordpress version 3.0.4 do you know if that would affect anything?

    See the thing is I edited a couple style sheets just to add something in, it worked beautifully but im thinking that’s why its buggering up now because of the combo of editing and maybe the update. If i re-install the theme it will get rid of changes i made to the style sheets correct?

    Correct, reinstalling the theme should fix the issue.
