• Suddenly, I can’t access the admin panel of a site I created. I am fronted with a blank, white screen. Doesn’t seem to matter if I go direct to wp-admin/index.php, admin.php, wp-login.php (which lets me login but to a blank page).

I tried reloading all of the site pages. Checked the host (my other WP installation works fine). I haven’t made any changes lately, in fact I accessed and added some pics a few weeks ago just fine.

Anyone have any thoughts? It’s a client site and I’m getting desperate!

  • Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress 3.0.2

    Thanks esmi.

I installed a fresh copy of WP 3.0.2, reset the plugin folder, renamed the existing theme so it wouldn’t find it and would go back to default.

    Still nothing. ??

    Any other ideas?

Try re-running the upgrade manually using /wp-admin/upgrade.php.

Tried – just came back and said “Your WordPress Database is Up to Date. No Upgrade Required.”

    Site url?

Can you try activating the Twenty Ten theme again? That’s not Twenty Ten on the site.

I’m not sure how to get it to activate. I renamed the current theme hoping it would switch back automatically. But I only get a blank screen.

    Try logging into your Dashboard.

Not sure exactly what you mean – but if you mean directly using the wp-login.php, I’ve tried that. I get the login page but when I put in my credentials and hit enter, I get the same blank page.

Would you be suggesting re-uploading again (a second time), even though I just re-uploaded a complete, fresh copy of 3.0.2?

Yes. Right now, the only obvious thing I can think of that might cause your problem (assuming all of your plugins have been reset and you’ve switched to Twenty Ten) is 1 or more corrupt files.

Do you happen to know what version of PHP & MySQL the server is running?

Yep – PHP 5.5. I’m thinking it’s probably more of a database issue at this point since all wordpress files are fresh and tested after resetting the site back to default (no plugins and TwentyTen theme). Thanks. Not sure what else we can do but appreciate your time!
