• I have a self hosted WP installation with a custom theme that was developed before 3.0 dropped.

Everything has been fine (mostly. I sometimes have problems with permalinks to my images. WP doesn’t render the link properly, putting extra date and time info in)
Today, I woke up, wrote a post, when to assign tags and categories, and when I saved, the tag and category info that I had just entered had disappeared. I tried again, nothing.

I previewed by blog and noticed that all of the category and tag data was gone from every single post, some 247 of them!

To make matters worse, I also noticed that my blog roll links are gone. I looked at my widget set up in the back end and everything looks fine. I tried rearranging and saving side bar widgets, and everything works except the links.

How and why are these things happening and what can I do to fix it?

    My blog is https://www.hindsightbride.com

This seems to have “fixed itself”…

It seems that have the same problem today.

How much time do you have to wait for fixing it ?

this may be related to a thread I posted today however, while it is similiar, the items could be unrelated.

Actually, I have categories and tags created. I can see them but they are not related to the posts any more. I didnt installed anything new. It happened suddenly.

Is it supposed to be fixed itself ?

I’ve got the same problem on a 1000+ posts magazine site. Recategorizing and retagging is not an option. Any solutions?

All the tags and categories are still in the database (checked wp_terms table in phpmyadmin), but they don’t show up on posts. And the list of categories and tags is empty in the admin part…

    Help!

Could be that the host is switching the root directory from writable to unwritable. For wordpress to properly function the files, /temp, etc. in the root directory have to be writable by the account owner.

Nothing links anymore. Was I fast and loose with the plugins? Should I just start over after copying 4 pages and 5 posts? Don’t mind, but don’t want ti to happen again. I was index. Thanks for any info.Take care.

I’m having the same issue at commercialrealtors.net. I did recently get a message from my host (A2) that they were making some server upgrades.

Anyone else in this thread host with A2?

@ jnholt3 – server upgrade is kind of waffle what doesnt say anything. They should exactly explain what they did, especially when changing server hardware many things can happen, new server latin1, old server Unicode etc.
