• Hi, I couldn’t seem to find the answer to this issue.

I’ve successfully imported all my blogger posts into wordpress, but I have a formatting problem.

In the title of each post, each first paragraph, and each post link (in the side bar), this symbol appears: >

I have no idea how to get rid of it.

    Suggestions/solutions gratefully received!

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

I also faced the same problem, and I think the problem occurs when we try to import posts in locally hosted WordPress blog (https://localhost/wp/) Or the WordPress is installed in subdomain.(like https://blog.example.com/)

This seems to be a problem with the importer on 5.3 here’s my experimentation with the problem. Scroll down to the last one to see the solution

    Hello guys,

I had exactly the same problem while trying to import some 1.000 posts from a blogger account to a newly created www.ads-software.com installation.
After researching for a while i found a pretty helpful post in this very same forum solving the issue, but i can’t seem to find it now so sorry about that.
What it proposed, though, was doing a quick search and replace through phpmyadmin, of every post title and substituting that ‘>’ character for an empty ”.
It is fairly easy to do and works like magic!
Here is an article that i think should explain better than me:

Yes, I’ll likely be using a find and replace technique to tidy up my data once it’s imported. I spotted a few single pixel images that need to be stripped out and also I plan to move the images across using the image importer.

To clarify the origional issue, it’s to do with the version of PHP you are using. There seems to be very little action from the php team to roll their fix into the released version
