• I am just trying out WordPress for the first time today. Loving it so far, but am stuck. Not sure if this is the appropriate thread/forum to post in or not?

I have my site and it is very simple with just 4 main links. One of the links is divided into categories (sub menus) with one of the sub-menu’s having a sub menu.

What I am trying to do is have a CMS type image gallery for each of those pages where my user can upload their own images. I want them to be able to log in, go to the category & upload pictures with a description, identification number, price, size, etc. I want them to be able to sort that by identification number.

Then when they are done publishing, I would like the people viewing the site (general public) to be able to go into each gallery & sort by low to high, each picture by price.

A much more advanced example of what I am talking about is like Etsy…
    Main Category: Accessories
    Sub Category: Socks, Hats, Scarves
When you click on the Socks link, you could sort the image gallery by the price of the socks.

I have no clue how to do this. Do I customize the gallery feature? Install a widget? Is this something that has to be customized? I noticed there was a custom field in gallery set up but I never figured out what it did.

If someone could help me, I would be MOST appreciative!!!!!

I have been searching for this all day & am not exactly sure what to do and where to look.

  • Hi, I also need to find a way to sort images from the front end. Did you find out anything? I am using NextGEN Gallery and there is a sorting feature on the back end, but there is now way (as far as I can see to get this function to work on the front end..
