wp-admin permission settings

Hi,

My wordpress site won’t allow me to access it. Whenever I go to the writebynight.net/wordpress/wp-admin site it gives me an error message and says I’m supposed to log in first. I’ve tried going to the wordpress home page and logging in from there but when I do, it tells me I must go to the writebynight.net/wordpress/wp-admin address and log in from there. It’s a cycle of me not being able to log in.

I suspect it may have something to do with the permission settings in my FTP client. Help!
