• DreamHost automatically uses the /stats/ slug to offer webmasters some statistics about site traffic. This URL is intercepted by WordPress and usually results in a 404.

The DreamHost wiki details what changes to make to .htaccess to restore access to the stats page:

I know the wiki says that the duplicate lines are acceptable, but it still seems redundant to me. Is there a way to incorporate the necessary changes into the rewrite rules established by WordPress? Or am I looking for a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist?
