[Plugin: Subscribe To Comments Reloaded] How to configure the permalinks

Hi there,

it’s much easier than it looks: how do your pages’ permalinks look like? Like /2010/about ? Then you can use the same format for the management page: /2010/management should work in that case.

Here’s the site in question. My pages (not posts) are simply the slugs, so the “About” page is found at /about. Based on your reply, I’d think that /management would work. But if I define that then go to a post that has comments, such as this one:

https://www.showbits.net/2011/01/14/ice-age-scrat-short/

and click “Manage Subscriptions”, I get redirected to a 404.

Is this a conflict with another redirection plugin I may have installed?

It could be. What other plugins are you using on this site?

Thanks for your patience. I’ve narrowed down the problem to a conflict with this plugin:

When I disable it, the “manage subscription” link works correctly.

Ironically, I started a thread just a few days ago to ask if the above plugin was even needed anymore:

I’ll take this thread to mean “no, it isn’t.”

I’ve found that the permalink plugin is still necessary as without it posts can be accessed from /post-id/ when the permalink structure on the site is actually /post-id/post-name/

Would there be any sort of workaround that could get both plugins to work together?

@patung there is a workaround, add your management url ‘/management/’ to the ‘Paths to be skipped’ field in the Permalink Redirect plugin setting page

Ah, I’m having the exact same problem and it looks like the same cause, but not quite. I’m using a different Permalink Redirect plugin to the one mentioned above, this one by joostdevalk:

And similarly can’t access the management screen (get 404 error), but when I disable that plugin, the management screen works.

However the permalink redirect plugin I use doesn’t have a settings page where I can add a “paths to be skipped” field. Which is a pity. And the scott yang plugin mentioned above, doesn’t appear in the WordPress plugins list, which makes me suspicious of it.

Any thoughts?

I agree, scott’s plugin is fine. Plus it’s not something wrong with my plugin, so you should probably ask the other developer to help you ??

Thanks for the quick responses. I’ve switched to the scott yang plugin, added “/comment-subscriptions/” to the filter and all is well.

By the way, Camu, I too was confused by what to put in the Management page field. I didn’t realise it could be any old cr4p, as long is it was in the same format. You might want to consider a few examples in the installation notes.

you’re right, it’s somewhat confusing, but I plan to improve that part as soon as I can get back to “work” on this plugin. I’m currently working on upgrading my other plugin ??
