Looking for theme/template for a book club site

I want to make a website for a small local book club. The requirements are modest …

• A member makes a post to introduce the next book, and announce the next meeting (weekly).
• Other members discuss the book, before and after the meeting.
• Meetings and books are distinct. At each meeting they might discuss more than one book, or they might talk about something else that is not a book.
• They want to list previous books (with intuitive link to the discussion) alphabetically and by date.
• They want to list previous meetings by location and date.
• The site home page should always feature the current book and the next meeting.
• The book club members are mostly WWW novices.

I think WordPress would be a good solution.

Does anyone know of an existing theme or template designed or adapted for a book club?

Does anyone know of a good open source alternative to WordPress for this project?
