Comments posting to Main site, if published on Multi blogs

    We are using LDAP with our multi-site. When I click on a MS blog, and click
    “You must be logged in to post a comment,” I log in using one of our accounts.

    And instead of the comment showing up on the MS blog—- it reverts to the Main blog, and shows up there! Now- I’m just thinking that when a User is not in the main database on WP- it is automatically making them only a Subscriber to the main blog (which is one of our defaults).

    Somehow- we want the User to log in, and be able to be a subscriber on EVERY site within the Multi-site blogs we have.
    Ideas?

    Right- but we’re using LDAP which automatically creates new users once they authenticate.

    However, it only makes them users on the main site. How do we use LDAP to make them users on all of the sites?

    The LDAP plugin makes the users on WP right? Either you’ll be able to use the MS User Management one to auto-assign those IDs to all sites, or you’ll have to hack it to work with LDAP.

    I didn’t say it was easy, just that it’d been done for basic WP ?? ergo it can be done again.

    Once they log in on the MAIN site, they do not have to be added to the sub blogs when that option is selected.

    It works *exactly* the way it does when you want to comment on a blog at wordpress.com.

    Users in a network do not need to be assigned specifically to a blog to comment while logged in.

    They are not logging into the main site, but one of the multi site blogs where the comment should go.

    The comments then mysteriously then show up on the main site.

    It still sounds like users not paying attention to where they wind up.

    Same place it is for every site, discussion settings.

    Log in first. The visits the subsite.

    If you get the same “you must be logged in” message, then something else is wrong, like cookies.
