    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    Right… will do that.
I had the theme cutover by a designer from blogger to WP, so have absolutely no clue about how to switch over to Twenty Ten. Scares the living daylights out of me.
Thank you for your help. Appreciate it. Off to deactivate

Do you think it could be something to do with Simple Press on BlueHost? Thats the other thing I did

OK deactivated all the plug ins … still inactive but the issue is unresolved. ??

Try the steps I suggested first.

Did that. Deactivated all of them, but the problem persists.

Don’t know how to switch to the Twenty Ten Theme …

In that case you’ve introduced a problem within one of your posts. Try switching them back to draft status one at a time until you locate the problematic one.

    Right… will do. Thanks

    See Appearance->Themes.

Genius you… I put my last post back into drafts and the lay out is back. TY.
What shall I do now to get the post back? Shall I compare the settings at the bottom of the post with one in the previous post? Do you think that would work?

    (@esmi)

Did you paste the content of that post in from somewhere else? If so, where?

I can’t thank you enough. You have brought sanity back into my life. Still can’t figure out what happened, but something certainly went wrong.
Happy V Day Esmi … muchas gracias!!
Will take one last look to check if all is well.

    Thread Starter passionateaboutbaking

    (@passionateaboutbaking)

No I didn’t. Is entirely my own post. Drafted it right there.
The only thing that’s changed in the layout is that previously I had the date just under the post title, and the number of comments etc at the bottom. That seems to have got inverted

My guess is that you have pasted formatting in with your content. Don’t paste content in from Microsoft Word (or any other application) into WordPress as the pasted text may contain invisible formatting. Sooner or later, this formatting could stop your pages from being displayed correctly (if at all) in Internet Explorer. If you cannot possibly manage without Word, paste your text into NotePad (or another text editor) first, then copy from NotePad into WordPress.

Or use the inbuilt Paste from Word option in the Visual Editor. Or Windows LiveWriter.
