When setting up the Rackspace CDN the domain side seems to be hardcoded as “cloudfiles.rackspacecloud.com” and only the hostname part is editable.

How do we change this so we get the new CDN hostname like:
    https://c000000.r00.cf1.rackcdn.com

Will adding the new CDN URL as a CNAME do the same thing? Or will it also still try to go to the old CDN URL name.

    Thank you,
    -David L

I think we have to wait for an update in order to take advantage of the new URLs they’re rolling out.

In the meantime, anyone know how to find out if your account can take advantage of the legacy URLs?

Rackspace Cloud Files does not currently support custom CNAMES. They’ve said that it’s an upcoming feature with the transition to Akamai, but they’ve been “about to release it” for a long, long time.

72: yup the Real Soon Now? at RS is annoying. In this case, I am not talking about about the RS’s lack of CNAME support just the fact that W3 Total Cache doesnt support the current URLS for the RS CDN.

I using the W3 Total Cache CNAME field and it seemed to do the trick for now.

I think it might be better if W3 Total Cache just had a field for the entire URL instead of having part of the URL hardcoded.

For current sites this isnt an issue at all for awhile.
(They havent stated how long the old style will still work)

New sites are only given the new URLS and this workaround seem to do the trick for now.

If you are using Rackspace just put the container CDN url, without the “https://” in the blank line under where it says “Replace sies hostname with __________________.cloudfiles.rackspacecloud.com or CNAME:” In the line below this will be a “1. ________________________” enter the container CDN URL here without the “https://”
