• It appears that all my post that are intended to only show in specific categories are also appearing on the main page. I double checked the Categories that it is supposed to be listed under, but it seems to also be posting to the main page. In addition, the blog doesn’t even appear in that category. Just a link of it that goes to a separate page. Please help.

Do you use a plugin to exclude posts? Some plugins are not compatible with 3.1

I don’t use any plug-ins to exclude posts. I tried creating another test post and have it link to another category, but it still puts an excerpt of the post into the MAIN page. I don’t understand why if one can select where the post is to appear, why it automatically shows in the home/main page as well.

Anyway of getting these new post to NOT show up in the MAIN page?

Blog link: inceptionradionetwork.com – you’ll notice the most recent post “Game Lounge” was suppose to be added only to the “Game Lounge” category. However, it’s also on the main page.

If you have Simple Tags plugin, try disabling it. May not be helpful but, worth a shot.

Don’t have Simple Tags plugin. In face, no plugins to manage posts at all

Default behavior of WordPress is that all posts are shown on the main page regardless of their categories. You can use plugins to exclude categories from the main page or by using query posts in your theme’s template files.

Any suggestions for plug-ins that I may use to work with 3.1? The help is appreciated.

I tried Simply Exclude and that seems to work. Was a bit difficult to setup, but working.

However, for some reason I am using the Daily Game plug-in which directly sends a blog post to that specific category and it does not display correctly in that category. It does display correctly in the MAIN page, but not in my sub-category that I created. All it does is to create a link in the sub-category which then shows the thumbnails correctly.

Why would it show the thumbnail correctly in the MAIN page, but not in the sub-category?

Here is the response I got from the plug-in developer:

The problem is that a <script> tag is being filtered on your category page
I suppose it may be ralted to your category page’s settings because the post is stored and presented correctly on the dedicated post page

I suggest you look into your blog’s settings on filtering HTML content – there is smth. that handles category pages differently
