• Hi. We installed multisite WP in our company, which is a very fine solution to run a few dozens of blogs. Unfortunately a few of our projects request to have sub.domain.com/blog or domain.com/blog
It is this /blog which causes me problems, because /blog is reserved in first place, but you otherwise would only be able to give it away one time. As I cannot find a workaround for it, I thought to ask here in this forum.

    What I did until now:

    * used Domain-Mapping to map domains and subdomains
    * I rewrite the url with the Loadbalancer, so in the browserline you see “/blog”, but the request which goes to WP is “/”

This works so far, you can visit the site with /blog, but then, if you move your mouse on article-links, you see, that it is actually “/”. Does someone of you know a way to manipulate this behaviour?

  • Create a page template to show all the blog posts.
Make a PAGE at the subdomain sites and call it “blog”.

then you get the url you want.

Thank you. But that wont work for categories, archives and RSS.

Install multisite at domain.com/blog. Then every subsite will have /blog stuffed in it.

Unfortunately only a few blogs need /blog as uri :-/

What happens it you put /blog/ in the permalinks for the subsites?

Thanks. That is the most practicable Solution, as I also can give the “base” for categories and tags.

Then only four things remain: pages, feeds, the archives and the link to the main page. OK, the link to the main page could be set in the Theme.
