i made the mistake to upgrade automatically to wordpress 3.1 and I am getting errors!

When I link on a category link I get this error:

Warning: reset() [function.reset]: Passed variable is not an array or object in /home/edo/public_html/wp-includes/query.php on line 2890

I think this only occurs when I click on a category link from the greek version of my site. I tried to deactivate any extra plugins I could but the problem remains. So I removed the category widget which as you can understand I need to get back.

For my bilingual content/translation I use the WPML plugin.

    any ideas?

    Thanks

    Yanni

The Hotfix plugin now has a fix that will help people with the category excluder bug. That may be it.

this is great! it seems to have fixed the problems for me! It doesn’t seem to be the case for others though…wtf happened with this upgrade? this is a major issue…it doesn’t make sense why they would put a bug in one of the main wordpress modules?

It was missed. That’s all. There will be a patch for it in the 3.1.1 I’m sure, but y’know, bugs happen because we humans are imperfect. No one testing (and there were hundreds of us) noticed it. The best ANY software can do is, once the bug is found, correct it and prevent it from happening again.

Maybe you could join us in testing the next release and help us find the bugs in the beta and RC releases? ??

I too had the same error when linking on categories from languages other than default. my site is https://dentaldicroce.com. multilingual content is powered by wpml.
however this plugin didn’t quite resolve the problem for me… now i keep getting double language directory:
even if the href is written as https://dentaldicroce.com/en/categoria/smiles-gallery the browser opens https://dentaldicroce.com/en/en/categoria/smiles-gallery and redirects to homepage.
Could there be some sort of solution for this as well?

don’t see whether your problem is…this fix seems to have solved my problems so far. is this related to something else? maybe the way you have the links displayed?

    sorry, i didn’t understand your comment ??

This plugin has partially solved my problem.
Now there is no warning: reset() [function.reset]: Passed variable is not an array or object in …/query.php on line 2890

But when opening the category archive page the language directory is doubled: /en/ becomes /en/en/ and so the page is redirected to homepage.
While empty categories are being redirected to original site content (default language – which is ok.)

For example: https://dentaldicroce.com/en/, in the left sidebar “advanced technologies” menu there is a category link to “diode laser” (this category is not empty and is supposed to open an archive page with one post). instead it is redirecting to homepage with the following address: https://dentaldicroce.com/en/en/categoria/advanced_technologies/diode_laser

    any ideas?

Tried https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/permalink-fix-disable-canonical-redirects-pack/ and now whatever link i open the homepage https://dentaldicroce.com/en/ is displayed… i am desperate…

Resolved by downgrading to 3.0.5 and am perfectly happy now!
Only that now i have to repost all the posts that i’ve made after the upgrade ?? good to have backups ??
