The sky has fallen! Thank you so much for this quick fix. I use a multisite installation and this is a nightmare. For the most part this new plugin seems to have fixed the issue but %category%/%postname% is still a HUGE issue. Looking forward to this being resolved.
    Thanx again.
PS. Steps I used to fix:
    1. sitewide deactivate top level categories
    2. change each sites permalinks to default
    3. network activate FV top level categories
    4. change each sites permalinks to month/date

    Hi Island Castaway,

    Glad our quick turnaround helps.

Support for FV Plugins is on each plugin’s home page on Foliovision.com:

    Thanks.

    Hi FolioVision,

    thank you for your bugfix-contribution!
I tried it, but it didn’t work for me … maybe it depends on server configuration? Maybe it depends on the lines with “$wp_rewrite->flush_rules();” … some blogs reported, that deleting / commenting this line could solve the problem. Didn’t work for me.

I finally found another plugin, that works fine:
    WP No Category Base,
    https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/wp-no-category-base/

I will post this hint at the TLC-plugin, too.
Maybe it works for some other users and saves some hours.

    best regards,
    Stephan

I haven’t seen a posting there by you.

Hundreds of WP users have had their weblogs work without further configuration in WordPress 3.1 just by replacing Top Level Categories with FV Top Level Categories.

Sorry you weren’t one of them. WP No Category Base is a bit of a hassle or we would have used it instead of rewriting Top Level Categories for WordPress 3.1

    Hi Alec,

i have been at your site and found that the plugin helped many people. But in my case – i don’t know why – it didn’t work.
So i just wanted to add this note for others.

I didn’t post this on your site, because i simply forgot to do. And i don’t know if this would be appreciated?

But it’s great from you, that you support the wp-community by the quick reaction and development of the tlc-fix.

    Thanks for that!

    Care to explain?

For me, WP No Category Base is incredibly easy to use. I just clicked activate and all was done for me – so far no problems.
