  • I’d be happy to take a closer look at your setup. Just make me an admin on your blog: [email protected].

    Hi,

Did you have the time to have a look at my setup ?

My sincerest apologies! I saw neither your post telling me you had sent the information, nor the e-mail. Could you try sending it again?

No problem, I’m not in a hurry ??

I just did … did you get it this time ?

Hi, I’m having the exact same problem. The circle thing with “Connecting” next it has been cycling for 15 minutes now to no avail. How can I fix this?

@plasticgoat and @marieholzer: I’m sorry it has taken me so long to respond to both of you. @platicgoat, I did get the user/pass you sent, but I haven’t logged on yet. I’ll let you know as soon as I’ve taken a look. @marieholzer – did you check your Facebook app settings on Facebook to make sure that the domain name you provided there matches the domain name you use to administrate your installation of WordPress?

@aaroncollegeman Yes, I verified all of the domain information and secret stuff. It was all correct and will not connect. It still cycles for a long time on the “Connecting” to Facebook part of the installation without getting anywhere.

    Hi there !

I’ve found, at least for me, what was going wrong …
The pop up to connect with facebook, was not showing.
Chrome was blocking it and I wasn’t warn.
I switched a few days ago to Ffx 4, and I try sharepress again this morning, and then Firefox warned me that a pop up have been blocked !

I allowed the pop up, ad now everything seems fine ??

    Bye and thx

That is such unbelievably awesome news @plasticgoat. I had really run out of ideas – it never occurred to ask me if you were seeing the pop-up. @marieholzer, can you confirm if this was also the cause of your problems? If so, this is great, great, great news. I’ll just add some extra guidelines to the setup screen of Sharepress. What do you guys think of putting a YouTube video there to explain to users how the setup process works?

Yes the pop up definitely needs a screen shot in the guidelines.

If you have the time, you could do a quick screen cast, but it’s not mandatory … except for the pop-up issue, it’s not a complicated setup process ??

    Bye ??

I’m running Chrome too. I’ll try it on Firefox and let you know how it goes.

I’m having the same problem. Tried it with Chrome (disabled the pop-up blocker), Firefox, and IE.

Do I need to submit my FB app to the app directory?

No, you do not need to submit your app to the directory. @marieholzer never got back to me, so I don’t know if making sure the pop-up blocker fixed her problem. Can you confirm that the values you submitted to facebook for Site URL (https://yourdomain.com) and Site Domain (yourdomain.com) match the domain that’s in your address bar when inside the WordPress Admin (yourdomain.com).

I had left both Site URL and Site Domain blank on the FB App’s Web Site page.

    Entering these solved the problem.

    Thanks!

    Alan
