This is very strange. I transferred my WordPress tables to a new web host for a buyer and everything looks good on my end. I am able to login to wp-admin and there are no problems. The buyer however gets an error when he tries to login with the user/pass I gave him.

I confirmed that the domain DNS resolved to the new server.

I even created a new admin user on the new host and it shows up in his PHPMyAdmin in the table. But he can’t login with that one either.

I had him click the “lost your password” link and it didn’t recognize his email even though I can clearly see it in the user table.

The original install was 2.9.1 I think and then once I moved the tables over, I upgraded it to 3.1. I went in the options table and removed the “/” from the end of the domain name in the siteurl and home fields.

Anyone have a clue what is going on? Can I do anything now or do I need to start over? Should I upgrade to 3.1 on my server before I export the tables?

    Thank you!

Can you supply a URL, we may/may not be able to see the site either.

So you can log in via the web and can see everything OK, but the client, logging in the same way can’t see the site at all – or can see the login pages/front page but can’t login?

There are, I believe, changes to the databse in 3.1 so a backup/restore of post 3.1 database might be worthwhile, though as long as the customers site files and version are in step – that is both 2.9.1 I personally would update later.

What exactly is the error that the buyer is getting?

He can see the login page but it tells him that his user/pass is invalid. And when he submits the form to reset the password, it said his email did not exist.

I was even able to login to the WordPress admin area on my Android smartphone so I am just baffled at how the buyer is having problems.

At this point, I think I am just going to reinstall WP on his server and add the posts back manually. There aren’t very many and the site isn’t customized much.
