    Hello,

I am not certain if this has only just appeared after upgrading to 3.1 or if the problem has been there for a while – just noticed it.

I have the standard category widget on my side bar, and tick the box to Display as dropdown.

It displays fine, but when I select a category it does not go to the correct URL. It tries to go to a url of https://www.mydomain.com/?cat=46 (which just shows the front page of my blog) instead of https://www.mydomain.com/category/category-slug (which works fine when I display the categories as a list).

My permalinks are set to custom “/%category%/%postname%” and setting category base to “category” as well as blank…

    Any ideas?

    Have you tried:

    – checking through Troubleshooting WordPress 3.1 – Master List

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Thanks for the detailed instructions… turns out it is a conflict with the datafeedr plugin, so I have directed this problem to their support…
