    Hi all,

    I’m setting up an offline membership group with online registration and payment for events.

    Basically this is the workflow:

    A stranger comes to the site, they can access everything including the forum (but can’t post) and can book events at the non-member rate.

    When they register on the site, they are charged ￡xx to register/join and then have access to upload photos to a public gallery, post messages on the forum and will see the member price for booking an event.

    I have looked at several members plugins, but they seem to offer almost too much and I just don’t understand how to configure it properly.

    Can anyone help with recommending a simple plugin that may be able to handle this please?

  • jenster81, There are membership plugins that allow you to charge members for access. Such plugins include WPMU DEV Membership, WishList Member, Digital Access Pass, and others.

    These plugins are built to accommodate the most common use cases, but your requirements are very specific. You’ll have to solicit the help of a WordPress developer to make the necessary tweaks.

    Hi jenster81, as M.K. mentioned, there’s a number of plugins that can accomplish that task.

    As an easy way to get started though, you might consider installing the free Membership Lite plugin and trying that out.
    Membership Lite

    With it, you could, let’s say, create a free membership level and a paid membership level and then apply restrictive rules to the free membership level, like restricting those members to a particular page on your site.

    Doing so might help you to get a better idea for how to setup such a site. Once you have an idea for how that works, you might then take a look at the premium version where you could restrict access to particular menus in the admin area, like the post writing menus.

    Hi all, thanks for the replies, I’ve chosen the S2 member plugin, there is a free and lite version which is excellent for the purpose at the moment
