    Try deleting and reinstalling the plugin. Let me know if that works.

    yup i did delete the plugin and reinstalled. i get the same error. i’m not sure if this fact will help but the host is not running php 5

    Oh—that’ll be the problem. I should put a check for that in the code and make it a formal requirement. Thanks for letting me know.

    PHP 5 is the answer

    I also got the same error.
    My solution was to upgrade my web hosting account to use PHP 5.

    My info before:
    Godaddy
    Wordpress 3.1
    Tumblr Widget Plugin version 1.4.4
    PHP 4.x

    My info now:
    Godaddy
    wordpress 3.1
    Tumblr Widget Plugin version 1.4.4
    PHP Version 5.2.17 ***
