Obtaining WP.org Account Logon
-
I have inherited a WP self-hosted website. Under my user name on the website I have Administrator status. I have FTP access to the website.
My predecessor, who set up the website, says I do not need the WP.org Account Logon he used to install WP and set up this website, and he will not answer direct request for that logon. He won’t give me the WP.org Account logon he used to set up this self-hosted WP website.
After days of reading documentation (I am a WP novice), I think I do need that logon, for example to admin Akismet and wp-stats. He says just create a new WP account. Looks to me as though to do that I have to make a new WP install, mooting the current website unless I put it in an “oldwebsite” directory and laboriously reconstruct content on the new from content on the old.
What are my options? I would rather not nuke the present site, which has a history, and I want him to not have access to the present website (I have changed the “admin” user password through Dashboard and deleted his Subscriber status user registration). I do not know why he makes the posture he does.
Am I correct in thinking, from the documentation, that the “super-user” WP Account logon used to set up a website is important for its full control? If so, is there a way I can retrieve it on the WP website for which I am responsible?
