I haven’t found any resource that touches upon this.

Seems like by default, WP implements a one time usage only of an image as a featured image.

Is there a mod or a hack for this such that you can use the same image (from your media library) as the featured image for more than one post?

I’m having this same issue. It only started after upgrading to 3.1.

Bump!! Is there anyone who can or has a hack for this?

I’m interested in this as well and can’t find any info!

I figured out the problem, however it might be dependant highly on the theme you use. Check your functions.php where the thumbnail is being used. Most themes come with the default ‘No Image’ png picture. Simply replace that with a picture of your choice and change noimage.png to your new image.

Thanks for your quick response! Sadly my functions.php doesn’t have anything like that ??

I’m using the Options Theme that isn’t up for download anymore. I’ve tried to download a lot of “category thumbnail” plugins but they only put the photo within the post itself, not on the front page

If you want to put the thumbnails on the front page then make sure that where ever you have the function that calls the post excerpts, you would need to add a thumbnail to the excerpt as well.

I have “featured thumbnails” installed. which basically takes the first image posted within the post and uses it as the featured thumbnail if I don’t specify one. But apparently when you “attach” the photo to a post as a featured image, that image can’t be used again. I wonder where I can edit that part so it can be used again
