    Installing Theme: Suffusion 3.7.8

    Downloading install package from https://www.ads-software.com/extend/themes/download/suffusion.3.7.8.zip…

  • Michael,

It tries to create file D:\Inetpub\michaelchapnick\wordpress/wp-content/suffusion.tmp during the installation and failed because wp-content probably has no write permissions. You may try to set write permissions for this folder or you may try to upload theme manually via FTP and then turn it on in wordpress.

Thank you very much for your response. Would you happen to know how to go about manually uploading a theme? It only seems to want to do it automatically. Best, Michael

I’m having the same problem, can’t install plugin or wordpress updates.. when i attempt to update wordpress, my error says:

Warning: touch() [function.touch]: Unable to create file /wordpress-3.tmp because Permission denied in /home/acental/public_html/wp-admin/includes/file.php on line 213
Download failed.: Could not create Temporary file.

    Installation Failed

I checked my wp-content folder, as well as the plugins, themes, upgrades and uploads folders and all are set to 755. Any ideas?

I also posted this issue to Hostgator (our host) and they fixed it! Here is their reply in case someone else runs into this:

“It appears that wordpress was trying to write to the root directory of the server / we have changed it to use /tmp instead.”

We were installing a WP in stall that was built by another designer on a different server. Maybe that designer changed the config file for their server settings.

I would strongly recommend that you move to *nix hosting. Working on IIS is likely to be an ongoing exercise in frustration.
