• I installed wordpress 1.5 with no problems, but now when I try to use the greymatter importer (I’ve tried versions 1.5, 1.5.1, 1.2, and 1.2.2 of the script), I get a strange error message. It looks something like this:

Warning: chdir(): No such file or directory (errno 2) in /home/.mumford/lizmarie/perspicacious.org/wp/wp-admin/import-greymatter122.php on line 32
Wrong path, /home/my/site/cgi-bin/greymatter/archives/ doesn’t exist on the server

What am I doing? Please help me.

  • The directory /home/my/site/cgi-bin/greymatter/archives/ doesn’t exist. “Path to GM Files:” needs to point to wherever your GM files live. Maybe they’re somewhere under /home/.mumford/lizmarie/perspicacious.org/cgi-bin/.

I do not know where the “mumford” url is coming from. My arhives are at perspicacious.org/archives, and my gm files are at perspicacious.org/cgi/gm.cgi.

Clearly, I’m screwing things up somewhere. Where, though?

On the wp-admin/import-greymatter.php file when you open it in your browser there is a STEP 2. You have to fill out correctly those two fields with the path not the URI. Seemingly you didn’t do that because the line /home/my/site/cgi-bin/greymatter/archives/ is the example there ??

OK, I understand now that I need to put the path where the files are located on my hard drive. ??

I resaved all of my archives to the hard drive and specified the correct folders (I swear) under “greymatter details” on the importer. Same result. What does “Warning: chdir(): No such file or directory (errno 2) in /home/.mumford/lizmarie/perspicacious.org/wp/wp-admin/import-greymatter122.php on line 32
    ” mean?

Is it time to ditch wp and reinstall?

I just moved from greymatter to wp and had a time of it too lol but you have to upload those files from your harddrive to your current host. Then do the transfer. The info will be changed to your ROOT path, not the http path so if you are not sure what this is, just send your host a note asking. It took a few tries but I was able to seamlessly move mine, so I believe you should be able to as well. The key is getting those files up onto your hosting, I do not believe you can pull them from your harddrive. (again, I could be wrong)

Once you’ve pulled them you can delete the files and folders that you uploaded so they don’t take up additional space.

    Blessings!
    Susie

PS looks to me like one of these will work for you:

    /home/.mumford/lizmarie/***www***/cgi/gm.cgi/

*the www is usually after your “login/username” info, sometimes it is called public_html, you’d change this to the right file without the stars =o)

    and

    /home/.mumford/lizmarie/***www***/archives/

Hey, thanks for the help. I was able to get the path for the files from my host, and it worked great. Finally!

    Thank you!
