Can't make anything but parents for menu

  • Twenty Ten WordPress 3.1. Front page menu. The drop down menus already in place are working.

    But when I make a new page, add it to menu page, and try to drag it over to make it a submenu, it stays as a submenu until I press save and then the page title pops back over to the left and it is a new Parent menu on Header. I have deactivated all plug-ins but it didn’t help, so I activated again. Frankly, it has always taken several tries to get the submenus to stick where they belong, but now won’t work at all.

    I tried putting it under another menu item, but no luck. I also tried to make some old Parents into children, again, no luck. I also tried to make some other children into parents, no luck.

    I am really an ignoramus here, so need help in easy steps if you have some. Thanks.

    Well, I tried this for about two hours and it didn’t work. I logged out, turned off my computer, went to Youth Orchestra concert to see my daughter’s boyfriend play viola, returned, tried again, and voila! It works. Thanks, WordPress!
