• I have a domain where we host several blogs and I’m wondering if it can be set up so that the place the “presentation” menu gets it’s themes from can be shared?

Currently, I am placing themes into each blog’s wp-content/themes directory. I’d like to place them into a directory such as https://www.domain.com/wp-themes/ and then have all the blogs accessing those shared themes?

    Can this EASILY be done?

Well there are over 100,000 wordpress blogs out there, if you hotlink all the index/css files it’ll be like 20-100kb/person per visit. So if someone get’s around 10,000 hits a month, that would cost a whole load of money for the people running the website. So it’s not really all that feasible.

Thanks but it doesn’t look like either of you understood my question. ??

So you have 5 blogs sharing space on a server, and you want to make 5 themes available to each blog without using server space for 25 separate theme folders, right? You want to have a “pool” folder with the 5 themes and have each separate blog’s presentation page access the pool folder for theme changes?

I don’t know how you’d do that without changing a bunch of core code, but then again, I’m no PHP guru either.

Yes it can be done. This plugin should provide some clues on what you need to do (see load_template).

    Then, please, explain your question.

    “Then, please, explain your question.”
Actually to be fair, he has and Vkaryl has spelt it out even clearer.

I know, but it would have been nicer if the OP had been the one to explain it rather than just assuming that we will suddenly understand after being told that we don’t understand.

Thanks and apologies to all. Yes, vkaryl got it right. I would have tried explaining myself but my work got in the way of my WordPress (dang work). I should have just not responded instead of leaving you all like that.

So, once again, I am sorry.

oh! and thanks for defending me ifelse and for the plugin. I will take a look at it after leaving the dreaded workplace!

I need the same. there must be an easy way to do it but can′t find it for the moment… Mark_I′s question is clear enough even for me that does not speak english

Did you try the plugin ifelse linked to?

I basically have the same question, though it’s actually very close to this one as well:
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/61564?replies=3

I want 2 installs to share the same exact theme, without needing to update both.

I have checked out ifelse’s plugin but am not php proficient enough to figure out what it does or alter it (it seems to be an ‘example’ plugin…)

    thanks!
