  • That article seems to have the right procedure. I usually refer people to this page
    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Resetting_Your_Password#Through_phpMyAdmin
Its pretty much the same but perhaps you’ll pick up something you missed.

Are you 100% certain you are updating the correct database? Is there more than one database in your hosting account? Do you have only one WordPress installation?

It is most unlikely installing some widgets corrupted your user name or password.

No you don’t have to wait for your database to update.

User names and passwords don’t just stop working. Something has to cause them to change.

If you really can’t get in, file a ticket with your webhost and ask for their help.

    Good luck.

I would suggest to contact your web host administrator as soon as possible, always consider that you might have been hacked. get the new password from your admin and change it.

    good luck

I am getting quite frustrated with this as I have tried several methods found by internet search including one that inserts new password with code. I am afraid I am going to be forced to start over. Before I do that is there a way to repair the wordpress installation? Any other suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

As you have now been told twice, contact your webhost. What is happening here is not normal.
