I have a blog about other websites and blogs and was trying to find a great plugin for taking snapshots (a small jpg of the homepage or specific url page) of other websites in a specific size and auto embeded into every post. I found a plugin called “WordPress Simple Website Screenshot” which was very close to my needs. This plugin will only display at the top left corner of a post and hosts the images on another server. I need to be able to choose the placement of the snapshot in a post and host the image on my own server. This plugin uses a short code to activate the snapshot on a post but only works if you edit out the “https://” part of a url which is a pain with how I run my blog.

    This is what I need:
    1. Snapshot engine to be installed on my own server
    2. Snapshots are saved on my own server (unlimited)
    3. A short code to activate the snapshot for posts
    4. To be able to choose what part of a post to display the image
    5. To be able to choose the size of the snapshot
    6. To use the whole url (https://” – https://www.awebsite.com) not just the “www.awebsite.com”

If someone could design a free website snapshot plugin with all of these features, I would love to give them credit for it on my blog! I’m sure many other blogs could benefit from a plugin like this.

    Can it be done?
    How can it be done?
Can someone point me in the right direction to learn how to do this?
