    (My site is https://www.amazonlifesavers.org)

I have made a nice drop down menu on my site, but would like certain pages not to open. For example, I have a tab that says: “Participate”. When you hover over it, 4 pages drop down: “be a volunteer, donate, etc”. I don’t want people to be able to click on and open the “Participate” tab. Only the drop down options. Is this possible? Thanks for any help.

  • Sure, this is quite easy as long as your theme supports custom menus (you also have to be using WP 3.0+).

In this case just go to Appearance -> Menus. Create a new top level custom link menu item called ‘Participate’ and set the link to # (i.e. don’t provide a specific link).

Then drag all your sub-menu items to be under this new top level menu item, and delete the old ‘Participate’ menu item. Save your changes.

Now when you view your menu, clicking on the ‘Participate’ top level menu item will have no effect, and won’t navigate to a new page.

    Perfect! Thank-you.

I tried to do the above but can’t find out where the link of “#” goes. Mine just automatically adds the page. I understand how to get the sub-menu item to the top-level menu item, just not where to find the link so that I can change this.
    I am using Weaver 2.2.6

Hi, I’m having the same problem and I’m struggling with this.

In this case just go to Appearance -> Menus. Create a new top level custom link menu item called ‘Participate’ and set the link to # (i.e. don’t provide a specific link).
    – I DID THIS

Then drag all your sub-menu items to be under this new top level menu item, and delete the old ‘Participate’ menu item. Save your changes. – I ALSO DID THIS BUT NOTHING SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING

Any advice would be most welcome
