    Hello:

I’m new to WordPress and the forum. I created a static page for my home page. I want to remove the Reply/Comment box on the page.

I went to Edit Page, Screen Options, checked Discussion, and unchecked Allow Comments.

I went to view my home page and the box disappeared. When I click on a link for Blog, the Reply/Comment box disappeared from there as well.

Is there a way to remove the Reply/Comment box from a single page and keep the box on all other pages?

    Thank you in advance.

  • Your main posts page (Blog) doesn’t use any of the page templates. It uses your theme’s index.php template file. If you try viewing any of your single post pages, I think you’ll find that they do show the comment box. This is fairly standard behaviour in most themes.

    Hello:

Thank you for the reply. When I click on the individual post or click the Leave Comment, I receive the following:

Apologies, but the page you requested could not be found. Perhaps searching will help.

Your permalinks are all wrong. Try resetting your custom permalinks back to the default setting. If this works, then review Using_Permalinks before setting a custom permalink structure back up again.

    Hi,

Ok, I change my permalinks back to the default settings. All is working.

I set the permalink that way because I wanted the URL to show a more user/search engine friendly name not Page_id=2.

I read a post that said I needed to change my permalink by creating a custom structure.

I would like my URL to display: https://www.helencbradshaw.com/blog not https://www.helencbradshaw.com/?page_id=7.

I reviewed the Using_Permalinks link you gave me and I can’t seem to find the structure that would give me the desired result.

You can’t use https://www.helencbradshaw.com/blog because WordPress is installed in your domain’s root folder – making your WP url https://www.helencbradshaw.com/

If you want to use /blog for all of your posts, I’d suggest scrapping your current install and re-installing WordPress in a sub-folder called ‘blog’, then using this technique to allow WP to take over the root domain.

Ok, I see. I will do what you are suggesting.

    Thank you.
