[Plugin: WordPress SEO by Yoast] SEO plugin visible to site subscribers

  • I just disabled this plugin, because it appears on the menu and dashboard of the guest account I’m testing with – and I don’t know how to disable this.

    It also adds a Yoast news feed to the guest dashboard – and I don’t know how to disable this.

    This information should be visible to administrators only – or there should be a way to determine who has access to it.

    If there is a way already, please let me know.

  • I am positive the profile level required to see a plugin can be set in it, so even though it’s not done yet (I haven’t checked), I’m sure it can be done by Yoast or hacked by anybody who can edit a php file.
    Interesting to underline though.

    I’m assuming you’re on a WP MultiSite install, if so, you can set the user level that has access in the MultiSite Network admin. On normal installs you can’t change this and only the editor has access. It’s a feature, not a bug.

    MultiSite? I don’t know if this is the case. I’m new to WordPress – and just used the one-click install in cPanel. How do I find this out?

    Are all WP 3.0+ installations multisite? If so, I may have one. You say that in this case I should be able to set the user level, but I can’t find this setting. Where is it?

    I can’t find any options about who can see the SEO plugin – and it’s visible to my subscriber test account.

    I could hack your code and put is_admin() checks in all the right places – only to lose the effect during the next update.

    Because of another report I figured out what you meant. It’ll be fixed in the next release. Users can’t access the settings pages but they can see them in the Admin Bar.
