• Hello Fellow WordPresser’s,

I’ve been using WordPress for the majority of my freelance career (about 4 years) and have encountered an error that I’ve never seen before.

I’ve recently updated to the most recent version of WP, and since then I am unable to update any of the page content. I can add blog posts just fine and everything works smoothly there. However, when I go and try and edit the content on a Page, when I click update it throws it to the themes 404 error and won’t do the updates.

I’ve looked around and haven’t seem to find a solution, I’ve done the following…

    • Tried to reset to the Twenty Ten theme, problem still happens.
    • Deleted all unused plugins and deactivated all plugins, problem still happens.
    • Re-installed the “wp-admin” and “wp-includes” folders on the server.

I was wondering if there was anybody out there who has encountered this problem or has any ideas on how to solve this noodle scratcher.

    Thanks in advance,

    Cheers,
    Simon Jones

  • Simon,

I’m having a very similar issue with my wordpress site. Whenever I update a page and then navigate to it, I get my themed 404 error. My permalink structure is set to “day and name”, and if I reset it to default, save, and then re-reset it to day and name, it works again. Editing posts has no effect.

    Running wordpress 3.3.1 with
    ProfileBuilderPro 1.1.19
    RoleScoper 1.3.52

.htaccess is fine, and mod_rewrite is active in my apache httpd.conf file.

I am quite at a loss. Did you ever find a solution that doesn’t involve unsetting and resetting your pretty permalink structure every time you change a page?
