I’m trying to add a product to e-junkie but it’s too big for their max (it’s 807 MB zipped).

They offer an external hosting feature where I can upload to my server, but WordPress media uploads are limited to 64 MB.

Is anyone aware of a different way to do this? Can it be zipped smaller without losing the WAV quality or my WAV files be converted to something more compact without losing audio quality?

    Thanks,
    Tara

  • wordpress uploads aren’t limited per se….

Your host most likely limits it. Some hosts allow you to raise that limit using a php.ini file, which you can investigate if you like

However for your current question it will do you no good. You aren’t going to be able to upload an 807M file to any website using any browser based means.

Browser connections simply aren’t meant to handle that, you will get a timeout error 100% of the time with a large file like that. Anything over about 60M starts to get unpredictable.

What you will need to do is to use ftp to connect to your server directly. I use filezilla, it’s a good free program

FTP is the only way to upload larger files like that reliably.

    thanks for your insight.

i decided to convert all my WAV files to mp3’s. that reduced the zip file to 147 mb which works fine.

    thanks again. ??
