    DNS.

Your domain name points to wordpress.com. You have to MOVE that ?? Where did you buy your domain name from?

bought it from siteground. Can’t I still keep the domain name?

Yes, yes you can ?? We just need to tell the domain where it lives now. Think of it like changing your address. Your name stayed the same, but everyone has to update their address books, right? Well DNS is a great big address book ?? Over simplified metaphor, but it’ll get the job done today.

You bought the HOSTING from siteground or the DOMAIN name? They’re different things a lot of the time.

You need to go to siteground and change the name servers from wordpress.com to YOUR new web host. They’re probably ns1.wordpress.com and ns2.wordpress.com right now. Your new host, where you uploaded the files to, has their own settings, and they should have help docs telling you what they are. You just have to edit that and wait a couple hours.

They are ns1.siteground316.com and ns2.siteground316.com 184.154.160.12 and 184.154.160.112 do these make sense to you?

Are you sure recheck as if you bought domain name from siteground then most likely you should have ns1.wordpress.com and ns2.wordpress.com as the domain name is opening wordpress.com

I am looking at my dns on my manage hosting area of my siteground account and that is what is states.

Maybe I purchased my domain name from wordpress if that is possible.

According to whois the domain name is registered by
Registrar : WILD WEST DOMAINS, INC.
    Referral URL : https://www.wildwestdomains.com
    Whois Server : com.whois-servers.net
    Nameservers : ns1.wordpress.com
    ns2.wordpress.com
Status : clientDeleteProhibited, clientRenewProhibited, clientTransferProhibited, clientUpdateProhibited

that tells me that the domain name is not registered at siteground looks like it may be registered at wordpress.com

Then you will need to change your DNS in wordpress.com to point to your host.

Yeah, that makes sense. The thing we’re not sure of is if you’re looking in the right place.

    Try following these directions: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#update-nameservers

If, when you login at wp.com, you have all those options, then you DID register via wp.com ?? if not, we’ll keep looking!

when I get into the set nameseervers, my nameserver 1 is ns1.wordpress.com and nameserver2 is ns2.wordpress.com

EXCELLENT! Follow the directions in the link I gave you ?? You want to change ’em to ns1.siteground316.com and ns2.siteground316.com

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#update-nameservers

Ok, I changed it, but do I need to go through the rest of the directions in regards to locking it, etc.?

Nah, just the 7 steps to update the name servers. You don’t need to do the rest unless you want to move the DNS registration.

And make note. Your domain is registered via wordpress.com ?? Remember that for later!
