I am having a heck of a time trying to figure out how to copy code into my footer (like you would for Google Analytics). I go in to the theme editor and click on footer.php but this is what shows up… nothing editable and no html…

Any ideas on how to paste some code in there?

  • Ask your hosts to turn Frontpage extensions off.

Thanks for the direction esmi… I will try that. Although I am completely unfamiliar with Frontpage… can you explain to me what frontpage extensions are? (I know that Frontpage is a Microsoft web design software… that is about it. Never used it.)

That’s about all there is to it. FP used its own proprietary extensions to allow non-technical authors to add the kind of interactive functionality that’s more usually provided by a scripting language. You don’t need these at all for WordPress and they’ll just add more clutter to your files & folders.
