    Hi,

I use “permalink structure” /posts/%postname% and “tag base” tags.
As expected that gave me tag links like www.mypage.com/tags/tag1. However, suddenly, with the same settings, these moved to www.mypage.com/posts/tags/tag1. I’m pretty sure it happened with the 3.1.2 upgrade. The result is a nightmare of broken links and upcoming Google punishments.

Is that a bug? Is there a work-around? I would appreciate your help very much.

    Igor

  • No – you specified the WP should use posts when you set up a structure posts/%postname%. Try reviewing Using_Permalinks again.

esmi I’m afraid you’re wrong. A permalink structure of /posts/%postname% prepends posts/ to all post links, but it should leave the tag links unchanged. That’s what’s the “tag base” field is for.

Fortunately my problem is solved. I’ve found that if you leave the “category base” field empty, the buggy behavior described in my original post (https://www.mypage.com/posts/tags/tag1) appears. However if you set the “category base” field to some dummy value like category, everything is fine! (https://www.mypage.com/tags/tag1)

I think I’ll file a bug report for that.

Ok, it seems the issue is already solved as Ticket #17308. Thanks for your quick reply, esmi.
