Log user into WP when they log into my site

  • When a user registers on my site I automatically add them to the wp_users & wp_usermeta tables. I also want to log them in to WP so that they don’t have to log in again at the blog and forums. What is the best way to create the cookie that WP needs to read? Is there code I can easily reuse or is there an easy way to duplicate the cookie that WP wants? How to go about this?

    Or is there a better site/forum/place for me to post this question? I’m sure that someone around here must be familiar with the WP authentication system, but have been trying for weeks to track down help on this question..
