• I’m finally beginning to use WordPress to build websites as opposed to my previously arduous method of doing everything through static HTML. Anyway, I built the website for a local music festival using wordpress and I would like some feedback. I’m personally proud of the work done so far but would like to extend my skills much much further.
    The site link is https://www.seasidemusicfest.com

I thank you in advance for your feedback.

  • I loaded twice to be sure but in my FF-latest the css isn’t being applied and looks like the sidebar is at the bottom

    there are a few problems

    I like it!
    You should be proud.

Killer site man, nice work. It came out pretty pro.

From a internet user standpoint, I really like it. From a customer standpoint, I wouldn’t attend that festival based on the header photos. The quality is nice don’t get me wrong, but it doesn’t make the event too appealing, especially with the gray skies in the background (on a few of the photos), corporate ads/sponsors, merry go round, etc. All stuff you wouldn’t want to see at a music festival.

You can make those gray skies blue though; I’m sure you have the Photoshop skills to do so. And maybe you have some other photos that are more enticing…enticing the viewer to come…to really want to come…to the event.

    Keep on the good work.

PS – Worked fine for me in FF

Hey thanks for all the positive feedback everyone. The festival was a great success, and I already see the things that I need/want to do differently.

@samuel B: I think I created a sidebar-footer.php file which is probably what you’re picking up. Not sure why I did that; probably in the mess of confusion when I was asked to move one thing to another area after having spent a bit of time getting it to work properly where I had it.

@grounded Group: I agree from the customer standpoint regarding the gray skies in the photo. As for the sponsor logos, I fight with my boss all the time about placement/sizing of logos on festival websites all the time. “Make this row bigger, this row smaller, etc, blah blah blah.”

I consider it a victory that we only placed the important logos and that they were laid out vertically, making it easy to size them. That unfortunately will always remain, but next year I can make them less obtrusive.

    Thanks again!

Haha, yeah, I hear you…I battle similar stuff with my clients. That’s good though, we gotta keep them in check and vice versa.

Love the way it looks. Just a warning: Due to the extremely large file sizes of the photos throughout the design, Safari froze multiple times for several seconds on a MacBook Pro with a 3.46 GHz Intel Core i7 processor.
