• Hey everyone Im a wp noob. I was wondering if there is a plugin or a way I can add a
Login/Register link to the menu bar. I searched the web and have found nothing that could really help me. I would like a user to come my site then either choose to login or register. If the user is logged in I would like the link to change to “Logout”
If you go to https://www.mmajunkie.com and look at the right side of the main menu bar it will show what I would like. Thanks in advance and I hope someone can help me.

I think esmi gave us a good link, but forgot about the “wp noob” part. I’d love to have this functionality as well, but I look at that link and have no idea what to do with that code.

    @ alexander,

What you must understand is this is a community forum. Many times, most of us can simply point you in the right direction. It is expected, and honored, for you to use your own learning curve when attempting to resolve a problem.

It’s hard to give specific instructions because each person’s individual desired results can differ dramatically.

I understand not everyone is a programmer, but it is expected for you to do some research on your own (as this is what WE do a lot of times).

Now, with that being said, you can simply place this code in any part of your site that you want to display the login/logout.

What is your site link, and I will help you determine which file to place the code.

I respectfully accept your very diplomatic burn, Josh. And I appreciate your help… though I will say I think you underestimate the extent to which I HAVE tried to find solutions on my own.

I bet that Woothemes forum would be a more appropriate place to figure this out (and I’ve searched both Woothemes and WordPress forums). Regardless, I’m not going to decline your offer of assistance.

    My site: japanrelieffundofalaska.com

Under the top navigation menu, there’s a secondary menu (currently an empty space). THAT is where i want a login/logout. But in customizing that menu, the available options to include are limited to: categories; pages; and links. I’ve tried various methods of inserting that code in iterations of those menu options. It’s not working for me. I THINK I’d have to put it in the custom CSS. But when I look at that, it’s all greek to me. Any ideas?

    Thnx

Nice answer and response! (although I didn’t entirely mean it as a “burn”) ??

Okay, do me a favor and post the code from your header.php file on pastebin.com. Be sure to check it first for any personal information, but it shouldn’t have any.

After you post your code and submit, copy the link and paste the link back here.

I shall interject and cry mercy for the same issue. I’ve tried many plugins and code snippets that have left me without the desired effect. I’ve tried plugging this into the header.php file but to no avail.

Here’s the code I thought was pertinent. I’m probably wrong …
