    Database error ????

    USING Microsoft WebMatrix & others

    Microsoft Web Application Gallery
    —————————
    The source is invalid.
Cannot connect to the database ”.
Cannot connect to the database ”.
Unable to connect to any of the specified MySQL hosts.
No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:3306

I have tried xampp, wamp & webmartix which all seem to give me similar issues. Database problems. WebMatrix “seems very user friendly” but after or before editing the wordpress zip file as directed (tried both) it give me a error message saying can not connect to database when creating a new database in webmatrix. I installed all the sql software available to man on my machine and still not luck

    any suggestions?

    – double check your wp-config.php file settings for the database name, database username and database password. This is where most errors occur.

-Check that you don’t need to change the database host from “localhost” to something else. You can get that info from your hosting provider.

-Check you have actually created a database with the same database name as is in your wp-config.php file.

make sure port 3306 is not blocked

:] heeeey i actually have some helpful information to input. woohoo.
well maybe it’ll help maybe it won’t.
Not sure if this is obvi to everyone else but I have an account with AN Hosting and I was able to create a database and database user name in my cpanel account for my domain. I called AN Hosting support and the representative helped me out.
We accessed my public IP Address using what’s my IP address in the google search bar, it should come up above all the results.
During installation with webmatrix i went to Use existing database (vs making a new one), entered the IP Address in for DB Server, my DB name and PW that I created in CPanel and woopie WordPress downloaded. YAY !

I’ve seen a couple people mention security issues using the IP address ; anyone have any opinion on that, i’d love to make sure my website is protected and secure especially once i start collecting email addresses of subcribers.

    Thanks guys happy new year!

wait wait, actually he gave me those IP address numbers based off of my web domain. okay there u go :] really really hope this helps somebody! i was losing my mind!
