Removing comment box from static pages

Some themes have a global setting for this, but you can change it if you click on the page to edit, and scroll down where you will see “discussion” and uncheck the box “allow comments”. If you don’t see this it maybe be hidden and you will need to open screen options tab in upper right and click on the box “discussion”.

Hi, I clicked on the “screen options” button and got the menu across the top. The “discussion” and “comment” boxes are not checked. Am I missing where to make the changes? I do not want the boxes to appear either. Also, how do I get rid of the “incoming search terms” list that shows on every page? https://www.eaptherapy.com. Thank you in advance.

Changing the Settings > Discussion will only affect NEW pages or posts that are created after the change. That will be your default setting from now on, but any pages or posts created before the change would have to be manually updated by going to the Pages and Posts screens, and using the Quick Edit links to change the status of that page or post. You can turn comments on or off for posts or pages individually. If you turn comments off on your pages, you will probably see something like “Comments are closed” at the bottom of the pages. You can edit <?php comments_template(); ?> out of page.php in your theme if you are sure that you don’t need it. If that is not there, people will not be able to comment on pages regardless of what is set in admin.
