• After submitting a comment as a non-admin, it’s only visible to me (and the blog owner). How is WP testing for this? How can I do the same in my theme dev to display custom messages?

  • If I understand the question properly, you’re asking why comments are held for moderation. You can set comments to be held for moderation if they have a certain number of links, if they are first-time commenters, or even just all the time.

Howdy, actually I was more interested in the cookie that WP sets in wp-comments-post.php and then evaluates when wp_list_comments is run.

I was actually hoping to leverage some of that comparison code to see if I could create something similar to the $comment->comment_approved value that could be used outside of the comments loop.

    No worries though.
