I want to put a background behind this section and I can do so in .postmetadata, but when I do that it also puts the same background behind the area “Posted in Noosphere | Edit | 10 Comments ?” on the multi-post/main page.

  • From the looks of things, you should be able to use .postmetadata.alt to add a background to that area independently of the area on the archive/home pages (which just use the .postmetadata class without the .alt class).

Is that a section I would have to add myself, or is it already in style.css? I don’t see it, but I could have missed it.

It might be something you have to add to style.css yourself.
