• Hi all,

Simply my media library is showing that I have 6 items, yet none are displaying. See link to screenshot.

It’s probably because I moved my wordpress files to another directory. I reconfigured everything and all has been well. I just noticed this now, and not sure how to fix it. Edit something in the MySQL DB??

    thanks,
    Andrew

    How did you move them?

Did you change the settings and then physical move them and THEN search/replace your DB for the old location/new location?

    Well yes I I didn’t read this https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Moving_WordPress

I was playing around, so moved the files before changing the settings.

Anyway, I have updated the links in settings and then updated the values in the DB. All has been working fine, except this one thing. Looks like I’ve missed something?

Do you know what to specifically change to correct the issue?

    Only 6 items?

The easiest/fastest solution might be to delete them from the Media Library, and re-upload them.

Easiest way is a search/replace in the DB ?? See the settings change is great, but you have to edit the wp_posts and wp_postsmeta as well to tell it where the images are usually. How are your SQL skills?

Though with only six, I’d be inclined to do as Chip suggested.

And in the future, when you move WP installations, I would strongly recommend doing an export of the content from the old site, and then an import of the content to the new site. That way, attachment metadata are updated appropriately.

Hi everyone. Thanks for the replies. Ok, export then import. Looking under tools there doesn’t appear to be an option for exporting or importing media?

This will contain all of your posts, pages, comments, custom fields, terms, navigation menus and custom posts.

Do you recommend any plugins for the tasks?

If your media are attached to posts, then they will be exported with the posts.

Then, when you import your exported XML file, be sure to check the box that says “download media” (I don’t remember the exact wording, but it will be obvious), and the importer will upload and attach the media to the new site.

hmmm.. that didn’t work. In that I exported it and tried to re-import it to the same site, but it just said that everything already existed, so didn’t import anything.

So the obvious thing to do would be to do delete the current content… and then import it. But if I do that, would it then not be able to find the referenced media?
