Post thumbnails on wordpress upgrade

  • I’m just giving my site a wordpress upgrade from 2.8 to 3.1.3 and installing a new theme. In the old theme you created post thumbnails by adding an ‘image’ custom post meta field. Then the thumbnail was created on the fly using thumb.php.

    The new theme I’m using, based on studiopress Genesis, uses the new ‘featured image’ functionality or if no featured image exists uses the first image in the post and resizes the thumb in the browser.

    Is there any easy way, or plugin, to move custom post meta field images to use the new featured image thumbnail?
