[Plugin: Contact Form 7] Using Contact 7 outside the wp loop

You meant by “static page”, a real HTML page, not even a WordPress page? You know, Contact Form 7 is a WordPress plugin. It needs WordPress to work.

lol – yeah should have been more specific.

OK, the page is running within the WordPress loop – it’s a index file in a custom theme. But it’s not calling any posts, and it’s not set up as a page in WordPress. It’s static HTML.

FYI – I am using another WP plugin on this page already called fmTuner – a last.fm plugin.

Except the way I’m running is with a php snippet that looks like this:
<?php if(function_exists('fmtuner')) { fmtuner(); } ?>

OK, if the page exists in WordPress environment, this should work.

<?php echo do_shortcode( '[contact-form 1 "Contact form 1"]' ); ?>

Please open a new topic for another question. HTML5 placeholder attribute is not supported. You can use ‘wartermark’ option instead.
