• Hi all, I am at my wit’s end with this!

I have just tried the automatic upgrade, after backing up all my files (thankfully!). It came up with error message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function is_multisite() in /home/content/t/h/y/thymeoperator/html/wp-admin/menu.php on line 29

I have trawled the message boards about this error but I just don’t speak computer and don’t understand anything anyone’s saying about how to fix the problem.

What’s worse is that when I just tried logging into my account (or even these forums, for that matter)…suddenly my user name is no longer valid and it seems my entire account has vanished! I’ve had to create a whole new login just to post this message here. How do I contact WordPress to sort this out, how on earth has doing their automatic upgrade deleted my account details, and how do I fix this, short of restarting the whole site??

    Vrinda

  • I don’t have the answer but I do want to empathise with you. I have pretty much the same probelm. They should really get rid of the upgrade. It looks like it is causing more problems than benefits.

    To avoid this again,
    – Make a Copy of your theme
    – Change the copy to your company+the theme name
    – up load the new copy
    – From your word press admin page go to appearance, then Editor then chose the new name of your theme and start to work and edit to the new theme. Now any new updates wont effect your home page.
    Good Luck!
