• I recently updated to the newest version of wordpress. Unfortunately, I did things a little backwards. I attempted the update before making sure my host provider had updated me to mysql ver 5.01 and php ver 5.2.9.

I can now get into the dashboard, however, I am having problems when I click to add a new post or edit an existing post. You cannot see the text in the post unless you highlight it, I cannot add photos or videos to posts/pages and the cursor does not appear when I click in the post section.

I tried deactivating my plugins but this did not help. I tried installing a different theme but had the same result. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Do you have a pre-upgrade database backup?

Sounds like that would’ve been a good idea. I have all of my posts saved in word documents but that’s probably not what you’re talking about….. So the answer is no ??

In that case, you probably will not be able to revert back. You could try uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a copy of WordPress 3.1.4 but I’m not sure if it will work or not.

I’m beginning to think that the easiest way might be to delete the wordpress from my ehostpros and then reinstall the newest version of wp. Would that work? Not an ideal situation but at least I have some kind of copy of my content and I just got started so it’s not like I have a ton of content right now.
