getting an error when uploading an image

  • OK, I took over wordpress site form previous developer. There were security issues and things I had to resolve to get the site working properly. Now everything works, except the image upload. When I try to upload an image, I get the following erorr:
    Error 500 – Internal server error
    An internal server error has occured!
    Please try again later.

    Can someone give some advise on how to troubleshoot this? I’m unsure of where to start.
